The latest news from Russia and Ukraine is that the two countries are in a stand-off over the issue of Crimea. Russia has been accused of sending troops into Crimea, which is a Ukrainian territory, and of taking control of government buildings there. Ukraine has threatened to take military action if Russia does not withdraw its troops from Crimea.

The news out of Russia and Ukraine is becoming more and more alarming. Russian troops are massing on the border with Ukraine and there are reports that they are already inside the country. The Ukrainian government is begging for help from the international community, but so far no one has been willing to step up.

This crisis could erupt into a full-blown war at any moment, and the world needs to be paying attention.

Russia-Ukraine War Latest News Today

The Russia-Ukraine War is a conflict that has been ongoing since 2014. The war began after Russia annexed the Crimea peninsula from Ukraine. Since then, fighting has continued in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russian separatists.

In 2015, a ceasefire was agreed to by both sides, but it has since been repeatedly violated. On September 5th, 2019, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump in which he expressed interest in buying more American military equipment to help fight the war against Russia. This came after Zelenskyy had previously said that he wanted to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The latest news on the Russia-Ukraine War is that both sides are still violating the ceasefire agreement and there is no end in sight to the conflict.

What is the Issue between Russia And Ukraine?

The current issue between Russia and Ukraine is the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation. This took place in 2014 after a period of unrest in Ukraine which saw pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych ousted from office. Following a referendum, Crimea voted to become part of Russia and was subsequently annexed.

The international community did not recognize this move and sanctions were placed on Russia by the United States and European Union. Relations between the two countries have been strained since then, with both sides accusing each other of aggression.

How Much of Ukraine is Russian?

In 2014, Russia annexed Crimea, a peninsula in southeastern Ukraine that is home to an ethnic Russian majority and has been part of Ukraine since 1954. Since then, separatist pro-Russian groups have waged a war in eastern Ukraine against the Ukrainian government, leading to the deaths of more than 10,000 people. Russia’s military intervention in Crimea and its ongoing support for separatists in eastern Ukraine has led many to ask how much of Ukraine is actually Russian.

The answer is complicated. Ethnically, Ukrainians and Russians are very similar. Both groups are Slavic peoples with common ancestors dating back to the early Middle Ages.

Linguistically, however, they are quite different. Ukrainian is written in Cyrillic script like Russian but includes many loanwords from Polish and other Western Slavic languages that are not present in Russian. Religiously, Ukrainians are mostly Orthodox Christians like Russians, but there is a significant Catholic minority in western Ukraine while most Crimeans are Muslim Tatars.

Historically,Ukraine has been divided between competing empires and nation-states—Poland-Lithuania, the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, Soviet Union—while Russia proper has largely stayed within its own borders. As a result of all these factors—ethnicity, language, religion—it’s difficult to say how much of Ukraine is truly “Russian.” However, there are some areas where Russians make up a clear majority of the population: Crimea (58%), Sevastopol (78%), Donetsk Oblast (37%), Luhansk Oblast (27%).

Is Ukraine a Russian War?

No, Ukraine is not a Russian war. The conflict in Ukraine is a result of the country’s complex history and recent political turmoil. Russia has been involved in the conflict to some extent, but it is not a full-scale war between the two countries.
