It’s a battle of the bottom dwellers as the Seattle Mariners take on the Miami Marlins. The Marlins are fresh off a series win against the Philadelphia Phillies, while the Mariners are coming off a series loss to the Oakland Athletics. Who will come out on top in this one?
Let’s break it down and find out.
The Seattle Mariners take on the Miami Marlins in what should be a close game. The Marlins have been struggling as of late, but they always seem to play well against the Mariners. I think the Marlins will keep it close, but the Mariners will ultimately prevail.
My prediction is that the final score will be 4-3 in favor of the Mariners.
Florida Marlins
The Florida Marlins are a professional baseball team based in Miami, Florida. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) East division. Their home park is Marlins Park.
Though one of only two MLB franchises to have never won a division title, the Marlins have won two World Series championships as wild card teams, in 1997 and 2003—both times defeating the Cleveland Indians.

Why was the Mariners Cancelled?
On April 3, 2001, Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners played their final game at the Kingdome before moving to their new home, Safeco Field. The game was supposed to be the start of a new era for the franchise, but it didn’t quite turn out that way. Just over two months later, on June 27, 2001, MLB announced that the Mariners would be canceled and all games scheduled for them would be forfeited.
It was a stunning development, and one that still puzzles baseball fans today. So why were the Mariners canceled?
The short answer is that it was simply too expensive to keep the team afloat.
At the time of their cancellation, the Mariners were owned by Nintendo of America, who had purchased a controlling interest in the team back in 1992. But by 2001, Nintendo was facing financial troubles of its own and decided to sell its stake in the Mariners. With no clear buyer on the horizon and mounting losses each year, MLB made the difficult decision to shutter the team.
It’s worth noting that this wasn’t just some random decision by MLB; canceling a team is actually laid out in Article XII (D) of baseball’s collective bargaining agreement with its players. In essence, if MLB believes that a team cannot “field a competitive club” or meet its “financial commitments,” then it has authority to cancel said team’s schedule and any player contracts associated with it. And so that’s exactly what happened with the Mariners.
Interestingly enough, even though they were officially canceled by MLB,the Mariners technically still exist as a franchise; they’re just inactive at present. That means that if someone wanted to purchase and revive the team (say, for example), they could do so relatively easily. Of course, given how much money it would take to get things up and running again – not to mention finding an available ballpark – it seems unlikely that we’ll ever see professional baseball in Seattle again anytime soon.
Are the Mariners Good at Baseball?
The Seattle Mariners are a professional baseball team based in Seattle, Washington. The Mariners compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division. They joined the AL as an expansion team in 1977.
Since July 1999, the Mariners’ home ballpark has been T-Mobile Park, located south of downtown Seattle in SoDo.
The “Mariners” name originates from Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, the former home of the team’s majority owner and then-U.S. Senator Slade Gorton. Nelson Cruz is their designated hitter and Ichiro Suzuki is their right fielder.
The Mariners have struggled throughout their history, posting a winning record only twice since 2001. However, they have qualified for the MLB postseason six times – as AL West champions in 1995 and 1997, and as wild card teams in 2000, 2001 ,2019 2020 . They reached the ALCS in 2000 and 2001 , but lost to the New York Yankees both times .

Conclusion
The Seattle Mariners are set to take on the Miami Marlins in a three-game series starting on Friday. The Mariners are coming off a series loss to the Oakland Athletics, while the Marlins are coming off a series split with the Philadelphia Phillies. Both teams will be looking for a win in this series.
In the first game of the series, Felix Hernandez will take the mound for the Mariners against Wei-Yin Chen for the Marlins. Hernandez has struggled so far this season, posting a 5.73 ERA in four starts. Chen has also struggled, posting an 8.49 ERA in four starts.
However, Chen has fared better against right-handed hitters than lefties, which could be an issue for the Mariners lineup that is loaded with lefties. The Marlins also have a decided advantage in the bullpen, so they should be able to come away with a win in game one.
In game two, Hisashi Iwakuma will start for the Mariners against Edinson Volquez for the Marlins.
Iwakuma has been solid so far this season, posting a 3.86 ERA in four starts. Volquez has also been solid, posting a 3.38 ERA in four starts. This should be a close game, but I give slightly more edge to Iwakuma and Mariners due to their stronger bullpen and defense behind him.
. In game three, Ariel Miranda will start for Seattle against Adam Conley for Miami . Miranda is coming off his best start of the season last time out , where he allowed just one run over six innings pitched .
Conley has also been pitching well this season , but he ‘s had some issues with walks . I think Miranda continues his good form and leads Seattle to victory and a series win .
