Clara Chia

Clara Chia is a Malaysian-born artist who has been living and working in Singapore since 1988. She graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from LASALLE College of the Arts in 1990, and received her Masters in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1996. Clara has exhibited widely both locally and internationally, most notably at the Singapore Biennale (2006), the Sharjah Biennial (2007), the Guangzhou Triennial (2008) and the Sydney Biennale (2012).

Her work often explores issues of identity, nationality and belonging, using a variety of mediums including painting, photography, video and installation.

Currently, she is an Associate Professor at School of Art Design & Media, Nanyang Technological University.
