Bennett Armistead Schauer is a retired American football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons. He played college football at the University of Virginia and was drafted by the New England Patriots in the seventh round of the 1981 NFL Draft.

Bennett Armistead Schauer was a United States Army officer and a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his actions in World War II. Schauer joined the Army from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in October 1940, and by April 6, 1945 he was serving as a first lieutenant in Company A, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division. On that day, near Wesel, Germany, he took command of his company after the commanding officer and all the platoon leaders had been killed or wounded.

He led an assault on three enemy machine gun positions, personally destroying one with grenades. For these actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor nine months later, on January 11, 1946. Schauer left the Army in November 1945.

He died on May 4, 1987 and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
